We love to hear and share good news regarding successful women and here's some very good news...
The number of businesses owned by women in the U.S. has more than doubled in twenty years, as has their revenue, according to the annual State of Women-Owned Businesses report, commissioned by American Express OPEN. In 2017, on average women started 849 new businesses a day, a 3% increase from last year.
These numbers represent 114% more women-owned businesses in the U.S. than there were 20 years ago. On top of this, in the same period, the number of firms owned by women of color has grown by 467%!
There are currently 11.6 million women-owned businesses, employing nearly 9 million people and generating more than $1.7 trillion in revenue.
